Wings of War: Back in Stock!
The long-awaited reprint of the WW1 aerial combat Wings of War base games has finally taken place and you can obtain all three main games from Game Stack.
The base games are Famous Aces; Burning Drachens; and Watch Your Back! Each can be played independently or in conjunction with one another and/or the expansion sets Recon Patrol and Top Fighters.
Published by Fantasy Flight but designed in Italy by Pier Giorgio Paglia and Andrea Angiolino, the game system uses a combination of board and card game mechanics to capture the essence of the fight for the skies above the Western Front.
Aeroplanes are represented by a single card (or a replica model, also available from Game Stack) which is used as a playing piece on any open surface; the players choose and play simultaneously movement cards to decide the actions of the fighter plane they control. Different planes use different decks of movement cards to represent their different manoeuvre capabilities, and different decks of “Fire” card are used to take into account their fighting effectiveness and to keep track of damage.
