Tired of Trivial Pursuit - Try Knowalot!
Ok, so the biggest quiz board game franchise ever is not going to disappear overnight, particularly with the way Hasbro manage to find new variations on the tried and tested Trivial Pursuit formula.
Nevertheless, it’s refreshing to see a new take on the quiz format and the people at up and coming games publisher Oak & Acorn have come up with something quite interesting.
The basic premise is that we all know a lot (geddit!) more than we think. So, instead of offering simple questions and answers, the format of each question is a block of text about a particular subject with five key words or phrases missing. All you have to do is fill in the blanks and because the questions exist within a context you may find that you get more right than you would if they were Trivial Pursuit-style questions.
A further twist is that players are required to bid on each subject before they see the questions, stating how many out of five they expect to get right. Subjects range from the Spice Girls to the Space Race so there should be something here for everybody.
