Reviews of Zombies!!! 2nd Edition

Zombies!!! is the game of post-apocalyptic survival, complete with braindead corpses, criminal looting and dastardly betrayal.

Clearly inspired by movies such as George A.Romero’s ‘Dead’ series and games such as Resident Evil, Zombies!!! sees the player’s shotgun toting character moving through an abandoned city, collecting weapons, taking out zombies and trying to catch the last helicopter to safety.

The gaming board begins with only one 3’ square tile, with all the players huddled together, but the board grows every turn, with each player laying new tiles to create the winding streets of the doomed city. Some merely feature road and sidewalk, but others have petrol stations, supermarkets or even a police station reminiscent of a certain videogame’s second installment.

Of course all these tiles feature zombies, and here’s where the dastardly betrayal comes in. There is no zombie player; everyone controls them. Each turn you must move a random number of zombies in any direction you choose, and it would be rude not to move them towards your opponents! Event cards can also level the playing field, whether it’s a handy looted weapon or an unexpected undead mob just round the corner.

The game has several expansion packs available; including zombie dogs, a cabin in the woods, genetically engineered super-zombies, a secret military base and even an undead infested shopping centre. If you’re a fan of any sort of horror films, and have a morbid sense of humour, Zombies!!! is for you.
