Refreshed edition of what is widely accepted as the first mainstream wargame. Players are given scores of little army units to place onto a map of the world.
When it’s your turn, you use your units to attack other players’ positions, hopefully with superior numbers. Combat is a simple dice-rolling affair that stresses attrition, and reinforcements are given to players who collect sets of cards.
You must lead your armies across vast continents to launch daring attacks against your enemies. But watch your flanks, as your opponents will fight to capture your troops and claim your territories.
Refresh edition features three ways to play, faster gameplay and updated map and playing pieces.
Capitals and cities give you extra troops. Minor and major objectives give you additional goals and possibly extra abilities.
In Basic Training, you must accomplish three objectives to win – they don’t give you any special abilities. In Command Room, you must accomplish three objectives – and they do give you special abilities. In World Conquest, you must take over the entire world – and get to use the special abilities of objectives you achieve. In all three versions, you must control your capital to win.
