Opera
In 1607 Monteverdi’s Opera La Favola d’Orfeo had its worldwide premiere. Over the following centuries, Europe was taken over.
In the board game Opera, the players are taken on a journey through three centuries of opera. Opera leads you trough the periods of Baroque, Classicism and Romance, revolving around the famous music of Händel, Monteverdi, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner and Verdi.
The players are leading members of aristocratic families, who dedicate themselves to encourage a finer taste in opera in six leading European cities. The Opera game is unique on several points. The sequence of play is decided by the players, through a delicate system of bidding, budgeting and decision making. The initiative of the players, the fame of the composers and the timing of the different characters have a subtle but decisive role in Opera.
