The game of competitive archaeology
Players are archaeologists who must travel around Europe gathering knowledge on five ancient civilisations – the Greeks, the Cretans, the Egyptians, the Palestinians and the
Macedonians – and then must use this knowledge to excavate historical sites in the territories of these civilisations.
During the game, players mount exhibitions and those who put together the most exhibitions with the highest value artefacts will win the game.
The key to the game is optimising the use of your time and this is governed by a mechanic which enables players to perform more of certain kinds actions than others. The player who spends a lot of time travelling may get to more valuable sites but will they have enough time left to find and exhibit the best artefacts?
